Event Overview
We are living in an age of rapid Digitalization, Systems and infrastructure are interconnected digitally than ever before. As much as Digital Transformation is bringing enormous progressive transformation to organizations, we are also seeing an alarming rise in Cyber threats and incidents across the globe.
Qatar is one of the leading developing countries in terms of online connectivity. With increase in online connectivity there is also seen a spike in cyber-crimes cases. By setting up Regulation and dedicated agencies, Qatar has developed a strong local legal framework for cyber security through dedicated agencies such as Q-CERT, CIIP and plans such as the National Cyber Security Strategy.
With Qatar hosting the upcoming FIFA World Cup this year, cyber experts predict a surge of cyber-attacks by hackers trying to attack personal data of people travelling to witness the massive global event. “The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy has already issued a cyber security framework ahead of the World Cup preparations to set the required benchmark for all parties involved in the implementation of the mega sports event. This framework identifies the cyber security requirements to protect national critical infrastructure supporting the FIFA World Cup.”
Qatar has seen a major acceleration in the domain of digital transformation, owing to government initiatives like Qatar National Vision 2030. The country is seen adopting several Digital initiatives like Qatar Digital ID Card to promote Citizen convenience. Also, the deployment of Biometrics and cyber security solutions at Government Offices, Airports, and several critical organizations speaks volumes of the country’s efforts in reducing cyber threats.
Cogent Solutions Event Management’s, Breach-3rd Middle East Cybersecurity & Biometrics Forum – Qatar Edition, will share light on the Biometrics & Cyber security Landscape in Qatar. We will be joined by security & technology professionals from Ministries, Government Public & Private sector organizations in Qatar to discuss and share insights on building agile and resilient cyber systems.
